What others say about living at Ashton Place

  • I had visited Ashton Place's open house and received a good feeling about the friendliness of the staff. My father was living in his home, but was requiring more supervision with meals, medications and care of his home. He had caregivers during the week, but realized that he was lonely on the weekends. We took him on a tour of Ashton Place and learned what they could do for him on the Enriched Housing Program. My father would tell you that coming to Ashton Place was the best thing for him. Having the apartment meant he could join in activities if he wanted or have private time to himself.
The staff is so welcoming, caring and supportive. All parts of the staff from administration to the maintenance men, have shown him friendship, respect and kindness. He's attended some activities and made more friends that I thought he would! The facility is clean, well maintained and decorated for the holidays.
Ashton Place was an answer to my prayers. That dad would live where he was not only comfortable, but safe, well cared for and supported by such wonderful people is more than I could ask for. Thank you!!

    Sincerely, Jean Marten
  • My mother lives at Ashton Place. If I’m lucky I will live there too someday. Visiting is like receiving a warm hug. The people who live there are always glad to welcome visitors. It’s so easy to forget there is a staff because everyone feels more like a friend or neighbor. If ever there is a concern, it is addressed immediately. It is a beautiful, wonderful place for seniors to live carefree and independently and gives a great deal of peace of mind to family.

  • It was a chilly and dark Saturday morning last spring, when my mother and I walked through the front door to tour Ashton Place. We were welcomed by residents gathered in the atrium having coffee and cookies. They greeted us with welcoming words and smiles and offered my mother a cup of coffee. The environment was cozy and warm and, very important, cheerful and bright.

My mother chose Ashton Place Enriched Living after we toured many different communities. I left the decision up to her. It had to be a place that made her feel comfortable because she had been in an independent living community where she was very happy. So, she had a lot of requirements: first floor, close to activities, windows facing sun most of the day, good dining accommodations and menu, and happy hour/music at least once a week. We got all of that at Ashton Place – plus a big bonus – a private patio. It is the only community where we found that each apartment had direct outside access to either a patio or balcony. That put it over the top for her.

We really liked that there are spaces outside for activities or to just sit. A covered patio off the dining room, a front porch, as well as private patios, offers residents a chance to enjoy the weather when it’s good, get some fresh air, and not feel “cooped up”. So much access to the outdoors also makes it feel more like a home instead of a commercial or institutional environment.

The staff is what I like most about Ashton Place – and I mean everyone - serving in every capacity. Everyone has been helpful, patient, and kind and has contributed to my mother feeling at home at Ashton Place. Because my mother is in the Enriched Living program, personal care aides distribute her medications, assist with other personal needs, and check in on her frequently. Not only are they thorough and conscientious in this regard, they are also attentive to possible issues they may notice concerning my mother, which has contributed to my mother receiving care in a timely manner. My mother has remarked about how nice everyone treats her and we feel very comfortable with her care there. Also, the time I spend with my mother now is much more relaxed and I sleep much better now too knowing she is so well cared for. She is glad to be there because she knows she is safer and we are glad she is there too.

  • We began looking for an independent living community for our father early in 2011. After seeing the community, tasting the food, and meeting many of the staff, it was clear that Ashton Place would be a positive, loving and safe environment for Dad.

The community is impeccably clean and well cared for. Each holiday brings with it decorations and celebrations. Ashton Place is simply a lovely home for our dad. He voices accolades for the people that are employed by Ashton and enjoys having entertainment and activities to keep him busy, as well as company at meal time. He appreciates having transportation to take him to get his hair cut in town, as well as his occasional outing for groceries or to the library.

What we like most about Ashton Place is the comfort of knowing dad is surrounded by caring people who are aware of his health and well-being. Should he not appear for a meal or daily activities, his door will be knocked on, or his phone will ring, and someone will check to make sure he is okay. Simply said, Ashton provides us with peace of mind. We sleep much better at night knowing Dad is safe and sound. The staff is exceptionally caring, pleasant and supportive. We are always greeted with a warm smile, and sincerely feel they are extended family.
