COVID-19 Limited Visitation

published July 21, 2020

Criteria for limited visitation:

Limited visitation may resume for an Adult Care Facility located in at least a Phase 3 region of New York State (our geographical location is in Phase 4). Additionally, Ashton Place needs to be 28 days removed from any positive COVID-19 test for residents or staff. The 28-day waiting period will reset each time there is a positive case.

Per guidelines from the NYS Department of Health, visitation will be limited to outdoor areas only, rain or shine. There will be two separate visiting locations under our front porch and these locations are required to be monitored by an Ashton Place representative(s).

Rules for visitors and residents:

If any visitor or resident fails to adhere to the following protocols, he/she/they will be prohibited from visiting for the duration of the COVID-19 state declared Public Health Emergency.

  • Limited visitation hours are by appointment only.
  • Only two visitors are allowed at one time per resident.
  • A visitor must be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
  • Visitors are not permitted entry into the facility for any reason, including the use of restrooms.
  • Each visitor is required to provide contact tracing information including;
    1. ·    First and last name
    2. ·    Physical street address
    3. ·    Telephone number
    4. ·    Date and time of visit
    5. ·    Email address
  • Visitors are screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 on Ashton Place property immediately prior to the scheduled visit and are refused access if they exhibit any symptoms or do not pass the screening process. Screening consists of both temperature checks and asking questions to assess potential exposure to COVID-19, including international travel or travel to other states designated under the Health Commissioner’s travel advisory.
  • Residents and visitors under a 14-day quarantine are not permitted to visit.
  • Visitors must bring and wear a face mask or face covering at all times. The face mask must cover the mouth AND nose.
  • Visitors must demonstrate proper hand hygiene with hand sanitizer before being allowed to visit. Hand sanitizer will be supplied by Ashton Place.
  • Social distancing must be maintained while on the property. Physical contact with the resident you are visiting is strictly prohibited. This includes hugging, kissing, or exchanging goods.
  • Furniture at the visiting stations must not be moved from its original position.

We anticipate these policies and procedures to change frequently as New York State changes its guidelines and we adapt our operations. Limited visitation can be suspended by the Department of Health or Ashton Place at any time, for any reason.

Scheduling a limited visit:

Each visit will be scheduled on the hour, and last for a duration of no more than 45 minutes, including the time it takes to screen all visitors at the beginning. Visitors are asked to arrive at the precise time they reserve to allow a facility representative(s) to properly disinfect each station after the previous visit. All screening will take place outdoors. If visitors are early they will be asked to wait in their vehicle.
